Prayer Shawl Ministry
Prayer Shawl Ministries translate the age-old Jewish tradition of prayer shawl into a lay ministry of needlework and prayer. The completed shawls are given to people facing difficult times: grave illness or surgery, bereavement, devastating emotional or personal issues, great pain or deep sorrow. A prayer shawl is love: love that is freely given for its own sake; it celebrates, affirms and comforts. From the compassion of the knitter, it has been designed to shower abundant blessings and wholeness on its wearer. The completed shawls are brought into the church, blessed by the clergy and congregation, and then sent out. They cannot be bought. They are gifts of knitter to the recipient. Clergy and members of the Parish suggest parishioners, friends and loved ones to be recipients of the shawls. The Holy Spirit is in charge of supply and demand.
To join the Prayer Shawl Ministry, please contact the rector at 281-7722 or by email, fatherraymond@holycrossnm.org.
